Portfolio's

Sun Nov 11, 2007, 5:12 PM
I havent yet gotten past that feeling of really displaying my art for people to see. I feel vulnerable and although i gladly accept constructive critisism, i feel like i'm being judged. But thats the thing i love about art! Art is something that comes from your own perception, your own emotions, and when you put that into a creative piece it just makes sense to have people look at it, contemplate it, and then give you feedback. I'm slowly transitioning into this. This year i'm taking a silkscreening class and every couple weeks we have critiques on our pieces we've been working on. I enjoy it alot, and it is a good way for me to climb out from under the shy rock and voice myself through my work.
So right now i'm in a very stressful period; but also a creative period as well. I need to put a portfolio of my work together by the end of this month to display to one of the teachers who's program i am trying for. I've never done a portfolio of my artwork before, and its freakin the shit out of me. How much pieces should i have altogether? How many of a certain categorie should i have? How do i document them? Pictures? The actual artpieces? HOW? HOW? HOW? I really hope i get this class, it will give me alot of future knowlege and practice for this New YOrk art school i'm applying to next year. They also require a portfolio submission, and i think after this year, i'll be ready and willing to showcase my talents.
